A Dhaka court has sent Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadwi, former MP of Chittagong-15 constituency, to jail following a one-day remand in the murder case of Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first-year student of Ideal College in Lalbagh’s Azimpur area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order on Tuesday after police produced Nadwi before the court following the remand.
Earlier, Sajjad Hossain, the investigation officer and a member of the Kotwali Zonal Team of the Detective Branch (DB), had sought his remand for questioning.
Nadwi was arrested from the capital’s Uttara area on Monday morning, after which the court granted police one day to interrogate him.
According to case documents, Khalid Hasan Saifullah, a first-year student at Ideal College, was shot dead on July 18 in Lalbagh’s Azimpur government residential area during an Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Following the incident, Khalid’s father, Kamrul Hasan, filed a murder case at Lalbagh police station on August 19, naming 52 accused, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
