Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has called for a reduction in the admission fees for public universities and for continuing the cluster-based admission test system.

He made these demands in a Facebook post on Saturday.

In the post, Hasnat Abdullah said: "Education is everyone's right, not a commodity. The current admission process, with a Tk1000 application fee, transportation, and accommodation costs, is creating a huge financial burden on students. The future of every student is hanging by a thread of money. This system is not about evaluating merit but erecting walls of discrimination. Is higher education only for the wealthy? Reduce the application fee, and continue the cluster system."

After several years, the engineering cluster has been dissolved this year.

Additionally, many universities have decided to conduct their entrance exams separately, leaving the agricultural and general clusters.
