Job seekers excluded from the notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration for the 43rd BCS have staged a sit-in in front of the Secretariat, on Wednesday.
These candidates, who were recommended by the Public Service Commission (PSC), are questioning the Ministry about the reasons behind their exclusion in the second notification.
They are also demanding reinstatement in the notification.
A total of 267 candidates were omitted in the second notification of the 43rd BCS.
Speaking anonymously, one of the excluded candidates said: "After working hard, tutoring, and studying consistently for four years, I finally received a recommendation from the PSC. We were excited about joining the new job, but we found ourselves excluded from the gazette. The Ministry of Public Administration has not mentioned any reason for our exclusion."
Another excluded candidate added: "While the promise is to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh, we faced discrimination even before starting our new jobs. If we don't have any lawsuits against us, why were we excluded? Our fellow candidates will join, while we cry in despair. This injustice weighs heavy on our hearts. We want relief from this discrimination and demand that all of us be included in the notification immediately."
The Ministry of Public Administration canceled the October 15 notification for the 43rd BCS and issued a new one on Monday.
In the new notification, 168 candidates were excluded.
According to the notification, 1,896 candidates recommended by the PSC were appointed to entry-level positions in various cadres of the Bangladesh Civil Service.
These candidates are required to join their jobs by January 15.
On December 26 last year, the PSC recommended 2,163 candidates for cadre positions in the 43rd BCS.
In the October 15 notification, issued 10 months after the recommendation, 99 candidates were excluded from various cadres.
In total, 267 candidates have been excluded from the 43rd BCS.
Previously, 67 candidates were excluded from the gazette of the 41st BCS, 34 from the 40th BCS, 61 from the 37th BCS, 75 from the 38th BCS, and 38 from the 36th BCS.
