Proposal sent to halve BCS application fee

The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has proposed reducing the application fee for the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exams by half. The proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.

An official confirmed this matter to Prothom Alo. Currently, the application fee stands at Tk700, which has sparked widespread discussion and criticism among job seekers. Following the publication of the 47th BCS circular, many candidates voiced their concerns about the high fee, prompting the PSC to take action and consider lowering the amount.

Earlier, the PSC had indicated that the fee for the 47th BCS exam would be reduced in line with promises made during the anti-discrimination student movement. Now, the commission has formally requested the Ministry of Public Administration to approve a proposal that would cut the fee by half.

The 47th BCS circular was released last Thursday, with 3,688 vacancies announced across various sectors. Notably, there is no application fee for candidates applying to government banks.
