Murals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders have been destroyed by unidentified individuals at the Shahid Smrity Pouro Udyan in Tangail city.
The incident occurred around 9:30pm on Monday, when the mural installed at the park was demolished.
Locals said that following the August 5 escape of Sheikh Hasina amidst student and public protests, the murals of Bangabandhu on either side of the "Muktomancho" (freedom platform) in the park were damaged by protesters. At that time, the murals of the four national leaders located nearby were also harmed. Later, under the cover of darkness on Monday night, an excavator was used to completely destroy the murals, including the one of Bangabandhu, along with the four national leaders' portraits.
Regarding the incident, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tangail Sadar police station, Tanvir Ahmed, said: "We have no information about this matter. Therefore, we cannot comment on it."
