Indian citizen detained for illegal border crossing in Sylhet

An Indian citizen has been detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for illegally crossing the border into Bangladesh.
During the arrest, BGB recovered 25 grams of Indian medicine, identified as Adanac, from his possession.
The incident was disclosed in a press release on Monday, by Lieutenant Colonel Md Hafizur Rahman, commander of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB).
The detainee, Dabber Lang, 26, the son of Jubin Sutting, hails from Lapalong village under Panyasala Police Station in East Khasi Hills district, Shillong, India.
According to BGB, Dabber Lang was apprehended on Sunday night at 11pm in the vicinity of Notun Songram Punji, approximately 500 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 1272/6-S in Sylhet's Gowainghat Upazila.
He was caught with the help of local residents while attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh.
The recovered medicine was also seized during the arrest.
The Indian national and the confiscated items have since been handed over to Gowainghat Police Station.
Gowainghat Police Officer-in-Charge (OC), Sarkar Tofail Ahmed, stated that the detainee had no passport or other identification documents when he was captured.
He was transferred to the police station by BGB early Monday morning.
Subsequently, a case was filed against him under the Passport Act and he has been sent to court for legal proceedings.
