A protest march towards the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, India, is being carried out under the banner of the Civil Society of Delhi, supported by the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The march began on Tuesday after 12pm from Teen Murti Chowk in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area.

Around three to four thousand people have joined the march, BBC Bangla reports. Alongside men of various ages, a notable number of women have also participated.

However, it remains unclear whether they will be allowed to proceed all the way to the embassy, as barricades have been set up on the roads. For now, the protesters are stationary in one place, chanting slogans.

Almost everyone in the protest is holding placards. The placards feature slogans such as “Save Bengal, Save Bengalis, Save Sanatan!” and “Bangladesh, remember 1971, stop oppression! Save Bangladeshi Hindus!” among several others.

In addition to the march in Delhi, massive protests have erupted in nearby areas over alleged atrocities against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, India Today reports. On Sunday, a demonstration was held near the Iskcon Temple in Noida, where Noida MP Mahesh Sharma, senior leaders of Hindu organizations, and several sadhus and saints participated.

Similarly, in Ghaziabad, BJP leader and Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay addressed a gathering, accusing human rights organizations of ignoring the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh.
