Tarique Rahman: Rokeya’s ideology inspires women to become self-reliant

Describing Begum Rokeya as a pioneer of women’s renaissance, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman said her life, works, and ideals continue to inspire women to become self-reliant.
“Through her timeless writings, Begum Rokeya consistently opposed injustice and discrimination against women. She motivated women to achieve self-reliance and dignity within their families, society, and the economy,” he remarked in a message commemorating Begum Rokeya Day 2024, which marks both her birth and death anniversary.
Tarique Rahman noted that Begum Rokeya believed education was essential for women to achieve self-reliance.
She strongly advocated for social awareness and movements to empower women and help them overcome societal obstacles.
“Education, for Begum Rokeya, was the primary tool for establishing women’s self-respect in society. Her ultimate goal was women’s emancipation through education,” he said.
Tarique further highlighted Begum Rokeya’s pioneering efforts to illuminate the lives of marginalized Muslim women through education.
Despite facing harsh resistance from conservative factions in society, she remained unwavering and determined in her mission to promote women’s empowerment and enlightenment.
