Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has expressed optimism saying that he believes trial court proceedings for mass killing during the July uprising can be completed before the upcoming election if progress continues at the current pace.
The adviser voiced his hope during a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, in response to questions from journalists.
He said: "There is no negligence on anyone's part. We promise you that the government will ensure justice for the heinous and inhumane mass killings in Bangladesh."
Asif Nazrul added: "I want to confidently say that the trial process is proceeding very smoothly. We are emphasizing the International Crimes Tribunal in this matter. The prosecution is deeply involved, and we are treating this with utmost importance. Given the progress in the investigation, we hope that hearings may begin by March."
