All government officials, including police, involved in controversial roles during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and criminal activities under the current Awami League government will be brought to justice, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said.

The adviser was speaking to journalists after inspecting the Ansar and VDP headquarters on Wednesday.

He said: "Whoever the culprits may be, we will bring everyone under the law. For instance, today the notorious Matiur (of the goat scandal) has been apprehended. You have seen how a police member fled from the station after being caught. One by one, all will be exposed and held accountable."

In response to a journalist's question, the adviser said: "Police officers whose roles were controversial, and for whom there is footage, are being apprehended. Efforts are underway, and a couple of individuals are being caught daily.

"For example, Matiur, known as 'Goat Matiur,' was caught today. He could not be apprehended earlier, but now others will also be caught and brought under the law. Not everyone can be apprehended in one day; many are in hiding. They will be found and caught, one by one."

When asked about allegations that during the movement, police officials ranging from constables to deputy commissioners had directly fired upon protestors and were later rewarded with transfers, promotions, and postings, the adviser responded: "After inquiry, those against whom evidence is found will not be spared. Arrests are being made. You have seen that after being apprehended, one OC even managed to escape."

Regarding the controversial police officers, journalists mentioned having a list. The adviser requested that the list be submitted to the police headquarters and thanked the media for their transparency and accurate reporting.

He also praised journalists for countering misinformation from neighbouring countries and encouraged further investigative journalism.
