Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam on Sunday said they are committed to serving the people.
“People have the right to receive services. The police are obliged to serve the people. Please cooperate with the police to get the desired services,” he said.
He said these speaking in an event as the chief guest at a view-exchange meeting organized by citizens of the Shahjahanpur Police Station area at Mahbub Ali Auditorium in Shahjahanpur.
Nazrul said that July 36 or August 5 has started a new chapter in the context of Bangladesh.
“Our young society has created an opportunity to overcome discrimination. We have to implement the dreams of those who gave their lives in the July Movement. A new police force, a new bureaucratic system, new politics and above all, a new Bangladesh must be built,” he said.
The Additional Commissioner stated that every citizen must play a responsible role from their own position.
“In every family, parents must raise their children as good citizens and good people. Everyone must ensure that they will not break the law and must encourage their subordinates and family members not to break the law."
He claimed collective efforts can make it possible to build a crime-free society.
"Everyone must obey the law in unity,” he further said.
At the outset of the meeting, one minute's silence was observed in memory of all the martyrs of the mass uprising of July-August.
Later, prayers were offered, with everyone seeking forgiveness for the souls of all the martyrs.
