Two killed in collision with DU picnic bus

Two passengers died and four were injured in Patiya, Chittagong, when a Dhaka University picnic bus collided with a minibus, leading to the bus and driver being detained. Fourth-year students of Dhaka University’s (DU) Islamic Studies department were on an educational trip.
The accident occurred around 10:30am on Sunday at the Bhaiyar Dighi area on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway.

According to reports, a minibus was hit by the DU Islamic Studies department's educational trip bus, resulting in the immediate death of two minibus passengers at the scene.
The minibus lost control and veered off the road into a ditch.
The accident left two dead and four others injured.
The deceased were identified as Md Bhola, 50 and Sabu, 60, both from Uttar Harinkhain village in Kusumpura Union of Patiya Upazila.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue, while the injured received treatment at various hospitals.
Regarding the incident, Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Jasim Uddin said: “A picnic bus carrying Dhaka University students rear-ended a minibus, causing the death of two minibus passengers on the spot. The vehicle and its driver have been detained.”
Two buses were carrying 65 students of DU’s Islamic Studies department on their educational trip.
One of these buses was involved in the accident.
