Chief Justice: I want to see justice for July-August genocide

Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed has expressed hope for justice, emphasizing that the entire nation is eagerly awaiting the trial of the July-August genocide.
He said: "As an ordinary citizen, I wish to see justice served too."
Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed said these at the event of inaugurating the main building and the courtroom of the International Crimes Tribunal.
The newly renovated building was opened by the Chief Justice on Tuesday.
During the inauguration, the Chief Justice stated that the opening of the renovated main building and courtroom marks the beginning of a new era for the judicial process of prosecuting genocide and crimes against humanity that occurred in July-August 2024.
This historic building, known as the 'Dhaka High Court' or the 'Old High Court Building,' holds a special place in the judicial history of this region.
It will gain new importance by ensuring transparency, following proper legal processes, and upholding justice during the trials of the genocide and crimes against humanity that occurred in July-August 2024.
Regarding the tribunal's expectations, the Chief Justice mentioned that, like an ordinary citizen, he too holds the expectation that the International Crimes Tribunal will deliver justice in the trial of genocide and crimes against humanity.
