BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will not attend a Jatiotabadi Muktijoddha Dal rally scheduled for Saturday due to health issues, the party's secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, has said.
Addressing a press conference at the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan on Thursday morning, Fakhrul said: “She (Khaleda Zia) has been unwell since the night before last. On the advice of doctors, her participation in the rally has been cancelled.”
Khaleda Zia was initially slated to attend the event as the chief guest.
The BNP chairperson last appeared as a chief guest at a public gathering on November 12, 2017, at Dhaka’s Suhrawardy Udyan during a National Revolution and Solidarity Day program.
