SI dies after jumping from moving train in Tangail

A Sub-Inspector (SI) of police died after jumping off a moving train at Gharinda railway station in Tangail Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased, Abu Hanif, was stationed at Khetlal police station in Joypurhat district. His home was in Mymensingh city.

According to his family and sources at Gharinda railway station, Abu Hanif had recently joined Khetlal police station and was travelling home on the Panchagarh Express after taking leave.

As the train was passing through Gharinda railway station, Hanif reportedly attempted to jump off the moving train and was struck fatally.

He was rushed to Tangail General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.

Salim Reza, the booking in-charge of Gharinda railway station, confirmed the incident.
