General Secretary of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Nasir Uddin Nasir has criticized the invitation of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement representatives to meet the Chief Adviser, stressing that all student organizations should have the opportunity to represent students collectively.

Nasir made these remarks on Tuesday during a human chain event organized by the Jagannath University unit of Chhatra Dal to mark International Human Rights Day.

Nasir said: “The representatives of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement certainly have the right to meet the Chief Adviser, but it should not be done through a press note. We had invited 28 active student organizations for a meeting. However, we did not invite the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement because they do not identify themselves as a political student organization. Allowing them to meet the Chief Adviser as student representatives is, in our view, inappropriate.”

Referring indirectly to the Islami Chhatra Shibir, Nasir Uddin Nasir said: “Another organization, which we did not invite, has been spreading misleading propaganda on social media. We strongly condemn this. This organization has previously engaged in covert political alliances. After the banned and violent organization Chhatra League was outlawed, they have now emerged to engage in open politics. Inviting such an organization to meetings legitimizes covert politics. Due to their political nature, this organization is widely despised by students. After the student uprising on August 5, which led to the fall of the Awami League government, this organization has resurfaced, aligning itself openly with others.”

Nasir also criticized the interim government, saying: “The top leaders of the Awami League have still not been arrested. We demand that all leaders and activists of the banned and violent organization Chhatra League be brought under the law without delay.”

At the event, Jagannath University Chhatra Dal President Asaduzzaman Aslam said: “The fascist organization Awami League violated human rights by imprisoning our leader Khaleda Zia on false charges and filing baseless cases against Tarique Rahman. The murderous Hasina turned the entire country into a large prison and made every educational institution a haven of terror through her loyal guards. The fascist Awami League transformed the nation into a house of mirrors, and our comrades from the Chhatra Dal—Russel, Rana, and Al Amin—are still missing. Their grieving mothers demand their return, and every Chhatra Dal member is crying for their missing comrades.”
