Ahinsha Gonabhutyhan: 18 including key coordinator Mahbubul Alam sent to jail

A Dhaka court has sent 18 individuals, including Mahbubul Alam Chowdhury, senior joint secretary and one of the key leaders of the of Ahinsha Gonabhutyhan (Non-violent Uprising) accusing them of creating unrest by promising interest-free loans to villagers.
The other accused sent to jail include: Advocate Ziaur Rahman, Syed Istiak Ahmed, Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, Mohammad Rahat Imam Noman, the leader of Nonviolent People's Uprising Bangladesh in Netrokona, Mohammad Masud, Ibrahim, Mohammad Alek Farazi, Mohammad Saiful Islam, Mohammad Abu Bakkar, Mohammad Rinku, Mohammad Nizam Uddin, Syed Harun Ar Rashid, Mohammad Afzal Mondol, Abdur Rahim, Nur Nabi, Mohammad Shahid, and Kohinoor Akter.
The order was issued on Tuesday by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Monirul Islam.
Earlier, the investigation officer, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahfuzur Rahman of Shahbagh police station, had requested that the accused be kept in jail, following which the judge sent them to prison.
Police filed a case against 1,219 individuals, including ABM Mostafa Amin, the convener of Ahinsha Gonabhutyhan (Non-violent Uprising) accusing them of creating unrest by promising interest-free loans to villagers.
Sub-Inspector Harun-ur-Rashid of Shahbagh police station lodged the case on Monday night.
Among the accused, 19 have been named in the case, while 1,200 remain unidentified.
The case details allege that on November 25, the organization conspired to lure people to Dhaka from various districts with false promises of interest-free loans.
They unlawfully assembled at the Shahbagh intersection, instigated unrest, and disrupted public order.
The accused also damaged plastic road dividers used for traffic control, causing an estimated loss of Tk20,000.
