Chinmoy Krishna Das sent to jail

A Chittagong court has sent Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, to jail.

He was presented before Judge Kazi Shariful Islam of the Chittagong Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate's Cour at 11am on Tuesday.

Chinmoy Krishna's lawyers filed a bail petition, which was rejected by the court, ordering him to be sent to jail.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Md Tarek Aziz said Chinmoy was brought to Chittagong by road at night. He faces a sedition case at Kotwali police station, and he was arrested in connection with that case and brought to court.

Earlier, Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari was over to the CMP by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). 

The transfer was confirmed on Tuesday morning by Rezaul Karim Mallik, additional police commissioner of DB. 

At around 4:30pm on Monday, DMP's Additional Commissioner of DB, Rezaul Karim Mallik, confirmed Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari’s detention at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
