Rizwana: Environment department will be digitized

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, said that various initiatives are being undertaken to make the Department of Environment more efficient and modern.

She mentioned that all services of the department will be digitized and made online.

She made these remarks on Thursday at the event titled “Bangladesh Single Window (BSW): Journey Toward Seamless Trade,” held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka.

Highlighting the need for better coordination between the Department of Environment and other government agencies, Syeda Rizwana Hasan said: “Many people consider environmental clearance as mere formality. However, from now on, it will be issued only after proper verification.”

The environmental adviser emphasized the necessity of incorporating environmental standards into trade facilitation processes.

She also called for ensuring a robust monitoring system within the BSW to prevent impacts on sensitive ecosystems arising from imports and exports.
