Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed disappointment over the interim government's failure to provide adequate medical treatment for the heroes of the July-August movement, despite announcing reforms as a priority. Speaking as the chief guest at the "Memorial of those injured and maimed in the July-August Revolution" event organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South, Dr. Shafiqur highlighted the neglect faced by the families of martyrs and injured heroes.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami has stood by the families of the martyrs and the injured, offering them support when no other party or even the state did. "Jamaat does not want to make the heroes of this movement its party asset. Jamaat-e-Islami believes that all the martyrs and injured heroes of the movement are our national asset," he said.

During the event, Dr. Shafiqur underscored Jamaat's commitment to prioritizing education if it assumes power. He criticized the current state of the education system, stating that the previous government’s education policies have contributed to the rise of juvenile gangs, extortionists, and terrorists. "Education that does not make people humane and idealistic can never be considered true education," he remarked.

Dr. Shafiqur also condemned recent reports alleging that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed military chiefs to take extreme measures to maintain power. "Only when people lose their humanity can they say such inhuman things and give such orders," he said, adding that past governments have turned violent in their lust for power, leading to the killing of innocent people.

Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur affirmed, does not believe in the concentration of power in the hands of one individual or one party. "Jamaat-e-Islami seeks to form a government with the support of all democratic parties, ensuring that no single person or party holds power. This is how the nation will truly enjoy freedom, and every citizen will receive the dignity and rights they deserve."

The event, chaired by Jamaat's Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul, and conducted by Central Working Committee member Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, featured several key speakers, including Central Assistant Secretary Maulana Abdul Halim.

In his inaugural speech, Nurul Islam Bulbul highlighted Jamaat's efforts to provide medical assistance to those injured and disabled in the July-August Revolution, as well as financial support of 2 lakh taka to the families of the martyrs. He noted that Jamaat continues to engage with these families to understand their hopes and aspirations for building the future of Bangladesh.

The event aimed to honor the sacrifices of the injured and disabled while reinforcing Jamaat's vision for a prosperous and just Bangladesh, free from discrimination and oppression.
