ICT orders BTRC, CID to authenticate Hasina's voice recordings

The International Crimes Tribunal today directed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to verify the authenticity of some "important" voice recordings of Sheikh Hasina and her close associates from the time of the July mass uprising.

The tribunal's prosecutor, Tanvir Hassan Zoha, filed a petition seeking the court's direction on this matter. The court then instructed the authorities of the CID and BTRC to verify the authenticity of the voice recordings.

The three-member bench, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar, chairman of the ICT, passed the order. The other two on the bench were Justice Md Shofiul Alam Mahmood and Judge M Mohitul Hoque Anam Chowdhury.

Earlier today, in court, Prosecutor Tanvir Hassan Zoha stated that they had obtained some important voice recordings of Sheikh Hasina and others from various sources. To authenticate these voice recordings, technical assistance from the CID and BTRC is needed, and a court directive is required for this.
