The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has requested information on the bank accounts of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana.
In a letter sent to banks last week, the BFIU also sought details of accounts linked to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust.
The letter said that Sheikh Hasina serves as the chairperson of the trust, while Sheikh Rehana is one of its trustees.
The BFIU’s letter instructed banks to submit all relevant information, including transaction records, account opening forms, and Know Your Customer (KYC) documents, within five business days.
